Ticino is an italian-speaking region in southern switzerland lined with lakes and mountains. Its architecture, cuisine and culture is closely related to that of neighbouring italy. Bellinzona, the capital of ticino, is home to medieval castles. Lugano, a town on glacial lake lugano, is known for its waterfront promenade and piazza della riforma, a square lined with neoclassical buildings. Being surrounded by mountains and lakes, ticino is an all-round well endowed region when it comes to sports. Most towns that surround lake lugano or lake maggiore offer many activities and courses during the summer.

Being next to como, italy and resorts in the alps, the leisure and relaxation culture around is well present. Many resorts, thermal baths, spas and mountain retreats are available in the area, such as the well coveted spa of the lido di locarno which offers premium treatments and facilities whilst having a view on beautiful lake maggiore.
